When I want to be a tourist in my own city, this is where I go 🍷
This one road in South London has everything.
Now that the sun has finally made its appearance I’ve suddenly been gripped by the desire to be a tourist in my own city. You know what I mean! Sometimes I like to immerse myself in a day of really seeing the sights and living it up. A chance to take a holiday for a day, without the stress of travel and the benefit of actually speaking the language. It’s a feeling that never gets old. When I want to create that vibe, there’s one specific road in South London that I’m always called back to.
This spot is somewhere I first came in 2013 as I used to work around the corner, and have returned to again and again and again. As new places have sprung up in the area, we’ve found new haunts to become obsessed with, and new ways to link them all together, weaving them into a perfect day. Including cool cheap eats, excellent wine, a proper good pub, not one but TWO rooftop bar opportunities, an internationally renowned art gallery and finally, a place to look wistfully over the river, in my opinion it ticks all the best tourist boxes.
So the next time you wake up at the weekend with highs of 24 and a need to soak up a bit of that lively London atmos, this is the exact day you should have. Whack Mon Rovia on your headphones, get ready to feel that swooping feeling of joy in your tummy, and enjoy 🥰 Also good to say: I’ve done this route on my own, with my boyfriend, with friends and even with family. It manages to please everyone!
